Transcribe an Interview

Focus on the conversation. Let the transcript write itself.

Built for Real Interviews

Whether you're a journalist, researcher, hiring manager, or podcaster — recording and transcribing an interview shouldn't require expensive software. Organism does it free, right in your browser.

Journalism

Record source interviews and get a searchable transcript. Copy quotes directly instead of scrubbing through audio.

Research

Transcribe participant interviews for qualitative analysis. Speaker labels help you track who said what.

Hiring

Record candidate interviews (with consent) and share the transcript with your team instead of relying on memory.

Podcasting

Transcribe episodes for show notes, pull quotes, or accessibility. Edit the transcript inline before publishing.

Why It Works Well for Interviews

  • Long recording support — No arbitrary time limits. Record for as long as the conversation lasts.
  • Speaker detection — When multiple people are talking, the AI adds speaker labels (Speaker 1, Speaker 2) so you can follow the conversation.
  • Inline editing — Review and correct the transcript before sharing. Fix names, technical terms, or any misheard words.
  • Multiple export options — Copy the transcript, download the audio file, or email the transcript to yourself or a colleague.

Tips for Transcribing Interviews

  • Place the microphone between speakers for balanced audio
  • Use cloud mode for the best accuracy with multiple voices
  • Ask speakers to avoid talking over each other when possible
  • For phone interviews, use your laptop mic near the speaker or capture tab audio for video calls
  • Review the transcript promptly while the conversation is fresh in your mind

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it handle long interviews?

Yes. There are no recording time limits. Record for as long as the conversation lasts — 30 minutes, an hour, or more.

Does it identify speakers by name?

The AI detects when different people are speaking and adds labels like Speaker 1 and Speaker 2. It doesn't identify speakers by name — you can add names by editing the transcript afterward.

Can I record a video call interview?

Yes. For browser-based video calls (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams), use tab audio capture to record directly from the browser tab. Both sides of the conversation are captured.

Is the interviewee's audio private?

In device mode, audio never leaves your browser. In cloud mode, audio is processed by OpenAI's API and is not stored or used for training. We never keep audio or transcripts on our servers.
